My youngest son has just learnt to ride a two-wheeler. Getting on/off and braking are still to come. All three boys could do it by about three and a half. I used the same method each time. I just made it up. All I knew was I didn't want the kids clattering around on stabilisers.
- Something that the child can sit on and ergonomically push with both feet. Like a Bobby Car (below) or Wheely Bug.
- Balance Bike (or Dresienne in French). Big saddles are best. Deflate the tyres a bit initially.
- At the same time as number 2. Three wheeler with the pedals in the right place. Not on the front wheel.
- Small two-wheeler with minimal drive-train friction. Use a Dad-Handle. A Dandle.
